I took riding lessons from Cerise for about two and a half years, and she’s by far the best riding instructor I’ve had. Her technical skills are excellent, and her focus on creating a trusting relationship with the horse completely changed the way I ride. It gave me the confidence to ride horses that I would have been too scared of in the past, and my riding progressed significantly during this time.

She’s also really intuitive and compassionate, and meets the rider where they’re at in a kind way. I was challenged during lessons in the best way possible, and if I ever felt overwhelmed or frustrated, Cerise was able to adjust what she was teaching so that I always ended the lesson with a sense of accomplishment and connection with the horse. Working with her set a high bar for what I now look for in riding instructors since moving out of state, and I feel really lucky to have taken lessons from her.

Cerise has taken me from being a very green “rider” to a half-decent “horseman” in less than a year. Her approach is mindful, attuned, and aimed at deepening the understanding and communication between horse and rider. As a Rolfer and massage therapist, I am always surprised by her level of attunement not only to the horse’s body and nervous system but to my own, and to the ways I am holding tension or applying pressure to my horse through my unconscious bodily habits and postures. I recommend her to anyone interested in deepening their relationship with horses and themselves.

My journey with cerise has been one of pure joy. Two years ago I started as a true beginner. She has lead me to a place of confidence, safety and curiosity. The emphasis placed on balance for both myself and the horse and her commitment to caring for us both in the process is undeniable. There has been only a few people in my life I have had the pleasure of meeting whose voice I will hear as I continue learning and cerise’s is most certainly one of them.

Can’t say enough about how amazing Cerise is!! I and my 2 horses have the great honor and privilege to be working and studying with Cerise, for a year and half now. She has great depth in her knowledge of training horses and teaching riding. I’m an older rider who has gotten into horses later in life. Working with Cerise has truly built my confidence. My mare, a former lesson horse, was quite a bit sour about “working” and Cerise helped her relax and brought her around to actually enjoy being with us, riding and doing things together! Cerise has a patient and steady hand with me and the horses. In addition, when a family member suffered a medical issue, I boarded my horses with Cerise at her well organized, clean, safe boarding facility. This was such a relief. Knowing the horses were with her allowed me to focus all my attention on my family member and their recovery. Cerise is awesome! I highly recommend her!

Cerise is the most natural and intuitive teacher you could ever find. You owe it to yourself to experience her methods and reap success from them. She has a psychic connection to the horse and to the rider and can find the gaps and help both improve. As a rider, Cerise allows you to deepen the relationship with your body to be aware and make micro-adjustments to allow more unspoken information to flow between you and the horse. When I thought my dream was ending, I was referred to Cerise! What a blessing! Thank you, Joe Henson! I was having several issues with my new horse that is a 13-14 year old gelding. From being told he may have a stifle injury to “he probably isn’t the horse for you”. I couldn’t believe the whole thing. I was devastated not knowing where to turn. After having him x-rayed and determined some arthritis, but nothing overly concerning. I knew he was meant to be my horse whether I ride him or pasture him, however this gave me more confidence to keep moving forward. I reached out to Cerise, and we instantly connected. She wanted to know my story and the history behind it. I love her training techniques and have been working from the bottom up. I am not the most patient person in the world, but I have learned some for sure. We started with significant ground-work in September and I got in the saddle in November. We have been working 1-2 times a week and the work in progress is so exciting to see. Amarillo has changed so much in the past 6 months. I have learned so much! I owe this to Cerise because of her expertise and love for what she does. I don’t think she has met a horse she doesn’t like.
